EUGENE, Ore. – Senior
Logan Davis drains five three pointers as the Northwest Christian University men's basketball team knocks off Walla Walla University 92-66 on Friday afternoon.
After being tied 20-20 midway through the first half, NCU turned it on with a 24-9 run to finish the half giving them a 44-29 advantage at halftime. The Beacons shot 46% from the field while forcing 14 Walla Walla turnovers in the first half. NCU was then able to pull away in the second half as they outscored the Wolves 48-37 on 7-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Beacons displayed a great effort and intensity defensively as they forced 19 turnovers resulting in 11 steals to go with their seven blocks. Prior to fouling out, NCU was also able to hold Kiandre Gaddy to just nine points, well below his season average of 19.6 PPG (3rd in CCC).
Logan Davis has been super-efficient this season and today was no different, as the senior led the Beacons (12-11, 7-6 CCC) with a game-high 21 points and four rebounds on 8-9 shooting from the field. Freshman
Kaden Sand scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds while
Ernest Ugoagu scored 15 points.
Stevie Schlabach dropped 12 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Zayne Browning led the way for Walla Walla (6-17, 4-9) with 15 points and eight rebounds while Dylan Browning added a double-double scoring 10 points and eleven rebounds in the loss.
NCU will return to action tomorrow as they play host in the second of back to back games against Walla Walla. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30pm in the Morse Event Center.
