Knights Slayed by Schlabach

EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman Stevie Schlabach hit four triples in the second half, helping the Northwest Christian men's basketball team pull out an 80-71 victory over Warner Pacific University on Friday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
 
The teams were tied on three occasions and traded ten leads throughout the contest, but the Beacons were able to pull away late, winning by their largest lead of the night. The Beacons (9-7, 4-2 CCC) shot 41% from the field and out-rebounded the Knights (8-8, 4-4) 43-35. NCU collected seven more blocks as they continue to hold on to their conference lead in the category.
 
Schlabach finished the game with 25 points, scoring 17 in the second half. He took over for Ernest Ugoagu, who scored 22 points after posting 14 in the opening frame. The pair combined to hit 11 of the team's 14 three-pointers.
 
Logan Davis was also in double-digits for the Beacons with ten points, adding seven assists, two blocks, and two steals. Logan Sand and DyShawn Hobson led all players with ten rebounds with Hobson added seven assists of his own.
 
The Knights, who drop their third straight, were led by Miles Brown, scoring 21 points with nine rebounds. Kadeem Strickland added 16 points and three steals while Stephon Shaw came off the bench to add 14 points and eight rebounds. The Knights shot 42.6% from the field and were 7-for-21 from three-point range.
 
The Beacons will be back in action on Saturday night, welcoming Multnomah University to the Morse Event Center at 7:30 pm. The Lions picked up their first CCC victory of the season on Friday, knocking off Corban, 97-94. Warner Pacific heads up to Salem to take on Corban, also at 7:30 pm.
