Portland, Ore. - The Northwest Christian University volleyball team kept the momentum going on Saturday evening, using 11 service aces to take down Multnomah University, 25-15, 25-20, 25-14 and complete the weekend sweep.
NCU (11-6, 3-5 CCC) wasted little time in setting the tone, hitting .571 in the first set as they posted just one attack error. When the final point was scored, NCU had hit a respectable .203 while holding the Lions to just a .015 attack percentage. The Beacons out-blocked MU 7-2 and owned an 11-1 advantage in aces.
Freshman
Jolinn Daviscourt did the most damage, collecting an NCU season-high six service aces.
Kayla Olson and
Olivia Peck added two apiece.
On the offensive front,
Katie Allen (pictured) posted an impressive line with 10 kills and no errors, hitting .625. Playing in just one set,
Taylor Gould owned five kills without an error. Olson led all players with 15 assists and
Makenna Northern added 27 assists and a match-high four blocks.
Multnomah (1-7, 0-7) was led by Kamaile Labanon who posted seven kills and six digs, both team-highs. Taryn Frey and Taylor Howie had six kills each while Amanda Holm led the Lions with ten assists.
The Beacons will look to keep rolling on Friday night as they play host to No. 11 Corban (11-3, 8-0) at 7:00 pm.
