Beacons Win Five Set Thriller

Portland, Ore. - The Northwest Christian University volleyball team won a nail-biter against Warner Pacific Friday night, winning 25-13, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10. The match was the fifth five set match the Beacons have had this year.  

Sophomore Makenna Northern led the Beacons (10-6, 2-5 CCC) with 57 assists, tying a Beacons single-match record. Junior Claire Salness was dominant as usual behind her .486 hitting percentage as she had 17 kills and nine digs. Senior Natalie Downes added 12 kills while Taylor Gould and Mary Grace Blaser added ten kills each. The Beacons ended the match with a .305 hitting percentage as well as a 67-50 kill advantage over the Knights.  

Warner Pacific (2-7, 1-5 CCC) was led by Audree Gormanson with a .346 hitting percentage as she posted a double-double with ten kills and ten digs. Junior Grace Buchanan added 11 kills while Matalasi Laban had 29 assists.  

NCU will stay in Portland as they take on Multnomah University tomorrow, Saturday September 28 at 5pm.
