Tacoma, Wash. - After trailing Puget Sound by eight points with a minute remaining, the NCU women's basketball team narrowed the gap to within a field goal before missing a game-tying three point attempt at the buzzer. The Beacons fell 56-59 to the University of Puget Sound on the road.
The Beacons (2-2) were led by senior
Shanay Dotson with a game-high 14 points along with six rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Kayce Mock had seven points and a team-high eight rebounds while
Morgan McKinney and
Aspen Slifka added nine points a piece. The Beacons struggled shooting on the road as they shot 30% from the field and 26% from beyond the arc.
Jamie Lange led the Loggers (2-1) with 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds while Rebekka Dasalla added 11 points and four rebounds. Puget Sound shot 11-13 from the free throw line which was crucial as they also struggled from the field shooting just 35% and 23% from three in the win.
The Beacons will look to bounce back heading into Cascade Conference play as they take on Corban University on Tuesday, December 3, at 7pm at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
