Late Goals Lead to Loss

KIRKLAND, Wash. – After playing through 75 hotly contested minutes, Northwest University broke through with a pair of late scores, lifting the Eagles to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Northwest Christian University Beacons on Saturday afternoon in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer action.

At halftime, the Beacons held an 8-6 shot advantage and the game remained close with NU prevailing 15-14 on shot attempts.

The game-winner came with just under 14 minutes remaining as Leon Bormann connected on a free-kick from just outside the box, skipping along the ground through plenty of traffic. The second came with just under three minutes remaining as Kyle Han poked in the insurance strike off a combo-pass courtesy of Dmitriy Zorchenko and Noah Prophet.

The Beacons (2-5, 2-4 CCC) will hit the road this week for Montana beginning with Carroll College (4-5-1, 3-3) on Friday at 12:30 pm PST.
