Beacons Play to Draw with SOU

EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman Sierra Coloma scored a second-half goal to tie the game, leading the Northwest Christian University women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw and just their second point scored ever against Southern Oregon University.

SOU's Misty Martinez came off the bench to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute, scoring off a Maddie Casey Assist.

Then, in the 66th minute, a Beacon and Raider collided just outside the box and the ball slipped back to Coloma who took a 20-yard shot from the right side and put it just over the hands of Southern Oregon keeper Jessie Selby.

The Beacons (2-6-1, 1-3-1 CCC) are now just 0-12-2 all-time against the Raiders, picking up their first positive result in the series since a 0-0 tie in 2013. Junior keeper Katie Hastings had a large part in that effort, making six saves in the contest.

NCU will be back in action on Sunday morning, playing at Oregon Tech at 11:00 am.
