EUGENE, Ore. – After defeating cross-town foe New Hope Christian College by just two points at NHCC last month, the Beacons were out to prove a point on Friday night, defeating the Deacons at home, 108-42.

The Beacons, who are now 9-0 all-time against New Hope, broke a record for best defensive effort, allowing the Deacons to shoot just 24.6%. New Hope shot just 3-for-24 from three-point range and with the starters playing just three minutes in the second half, the reserves shut down the visitors, allowing just 15 second-half points. NCU also shot 59.2% from the field.

Eddie Alexander said, "This was a great team win for us. Ty got us going with his hot shooting in the first half and our second unit brought a consistent defensive effort that we have really been working on."

Tyrus Hosley led NCU with 25 points in just 17 minutes of work, hitting 10-for-11 from the floor to tie a modern-era record as he shot 90.9%. He also posted four three-pointers and added a pair of blocks.

Five other Beacons were also in double-figures. Starters Earnest Ugoagu and
Austin Tyner combined for 24 points with the later adding three steals.

It was the play of the Bench, however, that truly gave NCU the victory, led by Freshman
Zach Sly who played 25 minutes, scoring 14 points with eight assists and seven rebounds, adding three steals.
Canyon Dwyre and
Jacob Plunkett scored 13 points apiece.

The NCU reserves out-scored the New Hope bench 57-8 and the Beacons out-rebounded NHCC 56-32. The Beacons also posted 29 assists and forced 20 Deacon turnovers.

New Hope (0-17) was led by Mitchell Beckwith who recorded a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Knigel Key added eight points while Geordan Sayles scored six.

The Beacons (8-2) will head to Washington on Saturday to take on Pacific Lutheran University (3-2) at 4:00 pm. They return to Cascade Collegiate Conference action next weekend, hosting Eastern Oregon University on Saturday and No. 2 ranked College of Idaho on Sunday.
