PORTLAND, Ore. – For the first time in 18 modern-era meetings, the Northwest Christian University volleyball team was bested by Multnomah University, falling in four sets, 25-19, 25-21, 16-15, 25-19.

Dating back to the re-launch of NCU volleyball in 2006, the Beacons had gone 17-0 against the Lions, including a victory at home earlier this season. On Saturday, however, Multnomah (4-16, 2-10 CCC) finally got the better of NCU as they hit .255 with five blocks.

The Beacons (7-11, 2-9) got a dynamic performance out of senior
Megan Van Marter who posted the third-highest single-match attack percentage in NCU history at .643 as she collected 19 kills and just one attack error on 28 swings.
Claire Salness added a double-double to the cause with 14 kills and 15 digs while
Natalie Downes contributed seven kills and also had her hand in on three of NCU's four blocks.
Makenna Northern posted 28 assists and
Kayla Olson secured 15 digs.

Multnomah was led by Miranda Halverson who scored 19 kills while Sydney Amundsen posted 11 kills. Marissa Rhodes led all players with 46 assists and added ten digs. Rachel Leshikar dug a match-best 17 balls in the win.

The Beacons will be back in action next Friday night as they return home to the Morse Event Center for the first time in three weeks, taking on Northwest University at 7:00 pm.Â
