Bright Start, Cloudy Finish in Salem

SALEM, Ore. – The night started with a little Sunshine as the Beacons struck first, but the No. 16 ranked Corban University Warriors posted three unanswered goals to remain undefeated in Cascade Collegiate Conference action, winning 3-1.

With what was just the second goal allowed in CCC action by the Warriors this season, Kaleb Miles (pictured) scored in the 25th minute with a header over the Corban keeper off a smooth corner kick by Alex Abalan.

Unfortunately, the NCU lead would only last for ten minutes before Corban found the equalizer when Robin Terry scored off a long pass from Igor Hubenya.

The score remained tied for the next 34 minutes before the Warriors secured the game-winner as Travez Whyte connected off a combo pass from Kohl Hurtado and Alex Segovia. Then, in the 80th minute, Segovia added the insurance with a header off a pass from Alan Ramirez.

Corban (9-1-1, 6-0-1 CCC) remains in first place in the conference after out-shooting the Beacons 15-14 including an 8-6 edge in shots-on-goal. Both keepers, Julian Hernandez for the Beacons and Jordan Salim of the Warriors, finished with five saves.

The Beacons (2-8-1, 1-5-1) were led on the attack by Ian Hernandez who collected three shots-on-goal.

NCU will hit the road next weekend, first traveling to take on The College of Idaho on Friday at 3:00 pm MST. Then on Sunday they head further east into Montana to take on Rocky Mountain College (2:30 pm MST).
