LA GRANDE, Ore. – 35 fouls and six cautions later, the Eastern Oregon University men's soccer team claimed a 2-1 victory over Northwest Christian on Sunday morning.

The Beacons, playing their seventh straight road contest, matched the Mounties with three shots-on-goal apiece, but it was EOU that put a pair into the back of the net for the win.

A penalty kick in the seventh minute opened the scoring for Eastern, who made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute on a score from Carlos Solorio.

Just 33 seconds later, the Beacons got their only tally of the match when Alex Abalan (pictured) put through a penalty kick.

The Beacons played the final minute of the match with a man-advantage after Solorio picked up a straight red card, but were unable to capitalize.

NCU (3-11-1, 2-8-1 CCC) will return to action on their home turf on Friday, playing host to Warner Pacific University at 4:30 p.m. Eastern (9-3-4, 7-2-3) records their first playoff appearance in school history and will close out the regular season on the road.
