Knights Prevail With Late Goal

SPRINGFIELD, Ore.  – Alex Saldana found the back of the net in the 84th minute, propelling the Warner Pacific men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over NCU on Friday afternoon.

Northwest Christian (3-12-1, 2-9-1 CCC) dominated the early goings, holding an 11-2 shot advantage in a scoreless first half.

The Knights broke up the tie in the 52nd minute as Octavio headed home the goal from a Kingsley Armah cross.

Just five minutes later, NCU tied the game once again when Jovany Sanchez launched a 25-yard bomb from the right, sailing into the upper left V.

The Beacons ended the night with a 20-13 shot advantage. The teams were equal with seven shots-on-goal each. Juan Inzunza made six saves in victory while NCU's Julian Hernandez recorded five saves in defeat.

NCU will close out their season on Saturday at 4:30 pm as they play host to Multnomah University. The Beacons will honor eight seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
