PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men's basketball team earned a convincing 107-81 victory on Friday night, going on the road to defeat the Multnomah University Lions in CCC action.

Five players finished in double figures, as Notrhwest Christian (6-7, 2-4 CCC) shot .472 from the field. The Beacons play inside led to a 58-39 rebound advantage and 50 points in the paint compared to 18 from the home side. Depth played a big role as well, with NCU benefiting from 64 points from their reserves.

The game began as a back-and-forth battle, with the lead changing hands five times over the first 12 minutes of play. The Beacons broke this pattern with a ten-point run to put them up 43-31 at the 4:11 mark, and went into the half up by 14.

Northwest Christian continued to excel in the second half, running off three different six-point streaks in a four-minute stretch to increase their lead to 79-48 with just over 13 minutes remaining. The Lions continued fighting, but were unable to bridge the deficit as NCU cruised to their second straight conference victory.

Three Beacons came off the bench to contribute big points in
Brock Rice (19),
Austin Tyner (16), and
Tyrus Hosley (11).
Michael Loomis and
Canyon Dwyre finished with 13 and 12, with each grabbing seven boards. Point guard
Kenny Blackwell ended the night with nine points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Reece Robinson also scored nine, while
Spencer Mattox pulled-down a team-high eight off the glass.

Brett Blackstock lead Multnomah (4-11, 1-5) with 18 points and seven rebounds. DJ Ahana scored 14 while Ben Grandle chipped-in 13.

The Beacons are back in action tomorrow night with a 7:30 p.m. tip off at Warner Pacific College.
