Olympia, Wash. – A season-high 16 three-pointers and strong play off the bench led the Northwest Christian University men's basketball team to a 91-83 road victory over The Evergreen State College Geoducks in CCC action on Saturday night.

Brock Rice and
Austin Tyner came off the bench to be the Beacons top-two scoring threats on the night thanks to their long-range shooting efforts. Rice scored a team-high 25, going 6-8 from beyond-the-arc and 9-11 in total, while also dishing out five assists. Tyner poured-in 18, hitting five of his seven three-point attempts.

NCU (10-10, 6-7 CCC) shot .500 from the field, using their long-range efficiency to outscore the .586 shooting efforts of the Geoducks. The Beacons spread the ball around to the tune of 23 assists and rounded-out their performance with a +6 turnover margin and 24 points from the extra possessions.

Streaky play to start the game saw each team banking seven-point runs early on, with the Beacons stretch tying the score at 25 at the seven-minute mark. TESC went 22-29 (.759) in the first half, pulling-away toward the end of the period and taking a 49-38 lead into the intermission.

Northwest Christians' offensive struck fast in the second half when Tyner hit an open trey off a
Spencer Mattox assist, sparking a streak of 11 unanswered to bring the Beacons within one at 50-51, three-minutes into the period. NCU took a 63-62 lead at 11:14 on a layup from Rice as part of a 12-point run and played from out-front for the rest of the game, leaving Olympia with their tenth win and a share of sixth place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference rankings.

Michael Loomis led Beacon starters in scoring, ranging in and out for 16 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds.
Davonte Cleveland was the fourth Beacon in double-figures, finishing the night with 13 points and five off the glass.

Four Geoduck starters scored in double-digits, led by Pat Ling who scored a game-high 26. Jaurence Chisholm had 16 points, while Ryan Quigley notched a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. Dustin Mead chipped-in 11 for TESC, sinking a team-high three three-pointers.

The Beacons return to the Morse Event Center this coming Friday, February 2 when the #15-ranked Warner Pacific University Knights make the trip to Eugene. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
