Beacons Rebound with 69-59 Victory over Owls

EUGENE, Ore. – Four Beacon starters finished in double figures tonight as No. 15 Northwest Christian University earned a 69-59 conference victory over the Oregon Tech Owls.

NCU (14-2, 7-2 CCC) shot 36.8 percent from the field while their defensive efforts held the visiting Owls to 28.6 percent, and just 1-for-13 from long range.

The Beacons overcame a slow start, beginning the game 2-10 from the field. They found their rhythm late in the first period, however, hitting their next four field-goal attempts as part of a nine-point run to put them ahead 17-10 at the 0:33 second mark. Maddi Bartholomew sank two additional free-throws to put the Beacons up nine and heading into the second period with a 19-11 lead.

Tech continued to push early in the final period, twice bringing the game within one point. NCU took control again in the eight minute when Conner Borigo hit an inside jumper to key a streak of nine unanswered by the Beacons, who held on the to earn their seventh conference win of the year.

Katerina Brejchova made her presence felt on both ends of the court for NCU, finishing the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Niki Duncan matched Brejchova's point total with 14 of her own while swiping two of ten Beacon steals.
