Beacons Blank Argos For First Win

GREAT FALLS, Mont.  – Tito Gomez (pictured) and Sanad Elghanai found pay dirt on Friday as the Beacons grabbed their first win of the season, 2-0 over the University of Providence. It was NCU's first ever victory in the state of Montana.

The Beacons (1-4-1, 1-1-1 CCC) was out-shot 14-11 in the game but stopped every attempt as keeper Yayo Olvera broke a tie to become NCU's all-time leader for shutouts with five. The sophomore made five saves in the win.

NCU broke through in the 29th minute when a cross in the box from Victor Irechukwu was played by Olisaemeka Obianosie and finished by Tito Gomez. It was the first goal of the season for the Gomez.

The Beacons held tough for the final hour of play and took advantage of a late red card for UP, scoring on a penalty kick with just 34 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

The trek through Montana continues in Helena on Saturday as the Beacons take on Carroll College at 4:00 MST.
