EUGENE, Ore. – Two-time reigning CCC Champion
Josh Goins wasted no time, putting together the best tournament of his career as the Beacons started the season at the Oregon Tech Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

Goins shot a three-round -5 total of 211, giving him the best tourney score of his career and the fourth-lowest total in school history. It was NCU's best individual tournament in seven seasons. Highlighting the week was his career low 67 in the second round, a five-under round that tied teammate
Levi Dean for the third lowest in school history.

Goins tied for third place in the individual standings with Marcus Frazier of Corban. Oregon Tech's Tyler Franke won the tournament at -11 while Owl teammate Houston Knox took second at -7.

Dean was the second finisher for the Beacons, taking 22nd place. The junior improved every round, closing with a 71 on Tuesday to end the week at +8 (78-75-71—224).

Also golfing for the Beacons were
Jack Singleton who tied for 33rd place (78-76-75—229) and
Paul Smoot who took 41st (80-76-77—233).

As a team, NCU tied for fifth place with Simpson University, shooting a combined 897. Host Oregon Tech won the event with a strong 20-under par 844. Corban was second at 864.

The Beacons will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, hosting the NCU Invitational for their second conference event of the season. They return to the site of their upset win in the CCC championship tournament just four and a half months ago.
