NEWBERG, Ore. – With all five goals coming in the second half, George Fox University took home a 3-2 victory on Sunday over the Beacons in NCU's final non-conference game.
Â
The Beacons had the upper hand early, holding a 4-1 advantage in shots-on-goal during the first half. That all changed during an 18-minute stretch in the second half that saw four total goals scored.
Â
NCU broke through first as
Sanad Elghanai (pictured) connected from the right side after a pass from
Tito Gomez in the 57th minute. Five minutes later, GFU tied it up getting a header score off a throw-in.
Â
Then, in the 72nd minute,
Josh Cloyd scored his first career goal after receiving the ball from
Blake Doran. Once again the Bruins responded quickly, tying the game at 2-2 just three minutes later.
Â
George Fox had turned the tide and continued to pound away with their seven total shots-on-goal in the second half, breaking through with the game-winner in the 83rd minute.
Â
NCU (0-3) now prepares to hit the road to open CCC play this weekend, traveling to Washington where they will take on Northwest University on Friday at 3:00 pm and The Evergreen State College on Saturday at 2:00 pm.Â
