Carroll Sweeps Weekend Set

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College went 4-0 this weekend, hosting the Northwest Christian University softball team in back-to-back double-headers. All three Cascade Conference contests were close but the Beacons weren't able to get a win.

Katie Walker threw 18.1 innings on the weekend, allowing just five earned runs, but she was victimized by a lackluster offensive effort by the Beacons as they were shutout twice on Friday (3-0 and 1-0) before losing 5-4 in Saturday's opener. Saturday's non-conference second game was a 9-0 five-inning win for the Saints.

Ereanna Higbee led the team with five hits over the weekend, hitting .455. She had her first home run of the season in Saturday's opener and collected two of the teams four RBI.

The Beacons will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, playing host to Oregon Tech for a four-game series. The team was originally scheduled to host Pacific in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday but that has been cancelled due to anticipated rain in the forecast.
