Beacons Draw With No. 5 Warriors

EUGENE, Ore. – One year to the day after playing to a 1-1 draw with then defending CCC champ Rocky Mountain, the Beacons did it again, tying up No. 5 Corban University, 0-0. It was NCU's first positive result ever against an NAIA Top-25 team.

An intense battle took place on Mike Kelly Field, with Corban edging a 16-9 shot advantage in the match though neither team was able to get one through the net. The shutout marked the first time the conference leading Warriors have failed to score in a CCC match on the season.

Sophomore keeper Yayo Olvera (pictured) had seven saves on the day, picking up his fourth shutout of the season, dropping his Goals Against Average to 0.79.

Olvera's GAA is second in the CCC only to Corban senior keeper Jordan Farr, who also picked up his fifth shutout of the season on Saturday, making four saves. Corban (10-0-2, 6-0-1 CCC) challenged with seven shots-on-goal, five coming from Timur Zhividze.

NCU (3-5-2, 3-2-2) will return to action on Friday October 13th when they host College of Idaho at 4:30 p.m. Corban is also back on the pitch on the 13th when No. 10 Rocky Mountain travels to Salem for an NAIA Top-10 clash.
