Three-Pointer Record Falls in Blowout Win

EUGENE, Ore. – With every team ahead of the NCU women's basketball team getting a victory on Saturday, the Beacons picked the right time to hit a school-record 19 three-pointers as they cruised past Walla Walla University, 97-51.

Eight different players connected from downtown for the home team with six different Beacons scoring at least two. Senior Jeni Hoffert and freshman Allison Parker (pictured) led the way with four triples apiece. NCU also record a season-high with 21 steals as the Wolves committed 25 turnovers. The Beacons out-rebounded WWU 41-36 and held an 8-0 advantage in blocks led by three from Conner Borigo.

Every rostered player got into the game for at least five minutes on Saturday and the Beacon reserves finished with 57 points. Head Coach Heath Alexander said, "I was very happy with the way we shared and moved the ball tonight. Everyone came in and competed with plenty of effort."

Hoffert finished with a game-high 17 points, followed closely by Parker who posted a career-best 16. Ashley Land added nine points on three treys and four other Beacons scored eight including Hanna Eddens who also led all players with nine rebounds. Katerina Brejchova and Dani Baker were relatively quiet on the scoreboard but did collect five steals apiece.

Walla Walla (2-18, 0-14) was led by Lexi Ehlers, scoring 15 points on 4-for-7 shooting from three point range. Emily Downs added 11 points and three steals and Alyssa Blankenship scored nine.

The Beacons (14-7, 11-3) stay one game behind both Eastern Oregon and Oregon Tech for second place in the Cascade Conference. Both teams won by double-digits on Saturday as well.

NCU will return to action next weekend, hitting the road for Washington where they will take on Evergreen on Friday and Northwest on Saturday. Both games are slated to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
