EUGENE, Ore. – A school-record six-game winning streak came to a close on Saturday at the Northwest Christian University women's basketball team was felled by No. 17 Eastern Oregon University, 74-68.
Â
With the win, Eastern Oregon keeps pace with Oregon Tech with a 9-2 mark in the Cascade Conference while the Beacons slip to fourth place at 8-3.
Â
The story for the Beacons was an uncharacteristic inability to find the bottom of the net, especially from outside where they were just 6-for-23 for 26%. The team did manage to haul in 20 offensive rebounds but were simply unable to keep pace with the Mountaineers.
Â
EOU (16-4, 9-2 CCC) was led by Stormee Van Belle, scoring 19 points including a trio of three-pointers. Donniesha Webber added 17 points as she was 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. She also led all players with three blocks.
Â
The Beacons (11-7, 8-3) were guided by senior
Hanna Mack (pictured), scoring 19 points as she shot 9-for-13 from the field. She also collected 12 boards to complete the double-double.
Monique Thompson scored 17 points and
Katerina Brejchova posted 10 points and nine rebounds.
Â
Eastern Oregon will be back on the floor tomorrow afternoon in Salem, taking on Corban University. NCU will stay home to face The College of Idaho. Both games are set to tip-off at 1:00 pm.Â
