Records Fall in Blowout Win

The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team hit a school-record 17 three-pointers on their way to a dominating 97-53 road victory over Warner Pacific College in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Beacons already led by 13 points at halftime before a magical third quarter put the game out of reach. NCU scored a single-quarter record with 35 points in the third, and also held the Knights to just five points, a record for the fewest allowed during a single ten-minute session. When the dust settled, Northwest Christian scored 57 second-half points to set another record.

NCU (10-6, 7-2 CCC) shot 46% in the game and was 17-for-40 from downtown. Five different Beacons scored multiple triples, led by five from Jeni Hoffert (pictured) who scored 15 points. Monique Thompson was 3-for-3 from behind the arc and also scored 15 points, adding five assists and four steals.

Also posting an impressive night for the Beacons was Hannah Eddens who came off the bench to score 13 points and nine rebounds in just 13 minutes of action. NCU went deep on Friday, clearing the bench for at least four minutes of action per person with no starter getting more than 23 minutes on the court. Ashley Land scored nine off the pine, hitting three treys and Conner Borigo scored eight.

Warner Pacific (3-16, 1-8) had the opposite problem as the suited up just six players with all six playing at least 21 minutes. The top scorer was Kyeli Hendryx who hit four from outside and scored 21 points. Bailey Allen added 12 points and five steals while Michaela Pin came close to a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Northwest Christian returns to action on Saturday night, traveling across town to take on Multnomah University at 5:30 p.m.
