SURREY, B.C. – The NCU women's softball team exploded for six home runs on their way to a split with the University of British Columbia on Friday, falling 5-4 before winning the night cap, 12-9 in eight innings. Senior
Parker Fritter  and Sophomore
Ashlee ColeÂ

Â
NCU (5-17, 1-3 CCC) dropped the first game of the day, but had plenty of offensive fireworks as Fritter crushed a three-run shot and Cole hit a solo bomb to account for all of the Beacon scoring. Â
Â
The teams rode the see-saw in game two with the teams trading leads throughout the game. Tied at 9-9 after seven innings, the teams played bonus softball and NCU emerged with more power in the top of the eighth to seal the win. Cole clobbered a solo homer for the game-winning run and senior
Taylor Medley added insurance runs on a two-run blast.
Â
Cole, who also had a second homer in the contest, went 4-for-5 in the game. Fritter also went 4-for-5 and Medley hit 3-for-4. It was a milestone day for Fritter as well as she went over the 100-RBI plateau for her career.
Â
Junior Breanne Johnson (2-5) got the win in relief as she pitched the final four innings without allowing a hit.
Â
The Beacons will be back in action on Saturday when they head back down to the states, facing off with Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington for a double-header. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 11:00 am.Â
