EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men's basketball team suffered their first home loss of the season on Saturday night, dropping the regular season finale to Oregon Tech, 62-43.

Despite the loss, the Beacons were able to claim the outright CCC Championship as Southern Oregon also lost their game to Corban to end the season one game behind the Beacons.

The game was the final regular season contest for Oregon Tech's legendary head coach Danny Miles, who was honored before the game. Danny's boys came to play, shooting 46% and out-rebounding the Beacons 34-30 in the win.

The big story for OIT (22-8, 12-8 CCC) was Lavar Moore, shooting 9-for-15 for a game-high 23 points. Joel Yellow Owl added 15 points and seven assists and Brandon Halter came off the bench to score 14 points and three steals.

The Beacons (24-6, 17-3) were led once again by
Omar Richards who scored a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds.
Austin Kuemper scored 15 points, shooting 7-for-7 at the free-throw line, and
Javonte Byrd hit three triples to finish with ten points.

NCU heads to the post season with home field claimed for the entire CCC tournament. They will begin their quest for the tournament title on Wednesday night, playing host to No. 8 seed Northwest University at 7 p.m.

OIT finished with the No. 5 seed and will hit the road for Caldwell to take on No. 4 seed College of Idaho on Wednesday.Â
