Beacons Overpowered by Lewis-Clark State

Box Score LAS VEGAS – The NCU women's basketball team opened up the Frontier Conference Las Vegas Shootout on Friday evening, falling to Rocky Mountain College, 70-52.

The Beacons fell behind early, trailing 17-5 after the first quarter, and we never able to recover. It was poor shooting that plagued the team as they shot just 25% from the floor while watching the Battlin' Bears hit at a 50% clip. Rocky also out-rebounded NCU, 48-35.

NCU (1-1) was led by Monique Thompson, scoring 22 points as she shot 6-for-20 from the field. She was also 9-for-11 at the free-throw line. Niki Duncan shot 3-for-12, hitting all of her shots from outside to score nine points. Hanna Mack led all players with ten rebounds but had just four points.

Rocky had four players in double-figures led by Alecia Chamberlin with 12. Hailee Farstveet scored 11 as did Mikayla Jones.

The Beacons will look to rebound on Saturday when they face off against Lewis-Clark State University, currently ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Division I ranks.
