EUGENE, Ore. – Southern Oregon University claimed their first ever win over NCU on Saturday night, taking away a 2-0 victory with a pair of second-half scores.
Â
SOU out-shot the Beacons 14-1 in the game and picked up the game-winner in the 61st minute. Brandan Allen took a pass in the midfield and dribbled to 30-yards out where he fired a rocket directly over the outstretched hands of NCU keeper
Levi Davidson.
Â
Just nine minutes later the visitors would add the equalizer when Paul Matyas took a pass from Clayton Nadon and scored from five-yards out.
Â
Southern Oregon (8-3, 3-3 CCC) finished with seven shots on goal, giving Davidson four saves. The Beacons also had a team save, with the backline making a diving save on the goal line for what would have been a third score.
Â
The Beacons (1-7-1, 0-4) will be back in action next Saturday when they play host to No. 14 Corban at 7 p.m. The Warriors are 9-0 on the season and are the only team remaining in the NAIA to not allow a single goal all year.Â
