EUGENE, Ore. –The only score came on a first-half set piece on Friday night as two evenly matched squads battled it out at Mike Kelly Field with Oregon Tech escaping with a 1-0 victory over Northwest Christian University. The teams combined for 37 fouls and nine cautions.
Â
Oregon Tech (5-4, 3-2 CCC) held a 15-8 advantage in shots and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks but the contest easily could have swung either way. The lone goal of the night came in the 32nd minute when Ian Tarnovsky headed home a corner kick from Colton Grytness.
Â
The Beacons (1-6-1, 0-3) held their own defensively with freshman keeper
Levi Davidson finishing the night with three saves. It was the offense that couldn't get a foothold with just three shots-on-goal including two from freshman
Victor Irechukwu (pictured).
Â
The Owls will return to action on Saturday when they travel to face No. 14 Corban University in Salem. NCU will play host to Southern Oregon University at 7 pm.Â
