KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University traveled to face Oregon Tech on Saturday with the Owls claiming a 3-0 victory in the non-conference clash.
Â
OIT outshot the Beacons, 20-12 and held the Beacons to just three shots-on-goal with one coming from
Melyssa Weber,
Emily Miller, and Sami Wilson.
Â
Cody White scored an insurance goal in each half for the Owls, but it was Chrishtianna Newell who gave Tech the early lead with a 20-yard blast in the 13th minute.
Â
NCU threatened to break through just before the half as Wilson got past the OIT defense with 20 seconds left, only to have her shot attempt get rejected by Tech's keeper.
Â
Senior keeper
Kristin Fulbright (pictured) was busy all afternoon, collecting eight saves as she faced 11 shots-on-goal. The silver lining in the defeat goes to Fulbright who know owns the all-time record for saves at NCU, passing Ali Foster.
Â
The Beacons (0-4) have some down time with their next attempt at their first victory coming on September 12 with a non-conference home game against Warner Pacific. NCU will also host two scrimmages in that time, Wednesday against Chemeketa Community College at 4 p.m. and Saturday against Walla Walla Community College at 2:00 pm.
