KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Karly LeVeque scored a game high 18 points leading No. 25 Oregon Tech past Northwest Christian University 70-59 in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams Saturday Night at Danny Miles Court. The Beacons led at half-time but lost pace in the fourth quarter as the Owls pulled away.
Oregon Tech (7-3, 1-0) shot just 34% in the game but out-rebounded the tall Beacons, 42-32 including 18 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second-chance points. NCU (4-4, 0-1) shot 40% and were 10-for-11 from the free-throw line, but 14 turnovers proved costly.
LeVeque scored 18 to lead OIT, shooting 4-for-8 from the field, adding 8 free-throws. She also led all players with nine rebounds and added three assists and three steals to tie for the night's benchmark. Tess Armstrong and Ashleigh Vandenbrink each scored 15 while Megan Whetstone scored nine points and nine rebounds.
The Beacons had four players in double-figures, led by
Monique Thompson with 16 points as she shot 6-for-9 from the field.

OIT returns to the court at 1:00 pm on Sunday, playing host to Corban University. The Warriors (4-5, 0-1) were toppled by No. 15 Southern Oregon on Saturday, 112-66. NCU will be in Ashland to take on SOU (7-0, 1-0) at Ashland High School, beginning at 1:00 pm.
