Sweep Streak Rolls On Against Evergeen

EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University volleyball team continued a run of 3-0 victories on Friday night, knocking out Evergreen, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23. NCU used nine service aces and a .315 hitting percentage to grab the win.

After rolling through the first two sets, NCU was slow out of the gates in the third as Evergreen scored the first seven points, putting the sweep in jeopardy. The Beacons slowly crawled back, however, and finished with their best attacking rate of the night with a .344 clip and just two errors.

NCU was led on offense by Chandler Gabrio, hitting .529 with ten kills and just one error. Carissa Allen went error-free, collecting six kills on nine attempts while Taylor Burnett and Cassidy Winters each posted seven kills. Winters also contributed three blocks to lead all players. Laurie Salness posted a match-high 25 assists before an injury late in the match.

The Beacons had four service aces from Kayla Ping (pictured) and won behind a 52-42 advantage in digs. Ping led the Beacons with eleven while Haley Damian and Sydney Rothenbush posted ten apiece.

Evergreen (3-18, 3-13 CCC) was led by Natalie Taylor, collecting a match-high 13 kills on 44 swings. Cheyenne Baird added a match-best 12 digs and Kylie Kytan was the owner of 24 assists.

The Beacons (13-9, 6-9 CCC) have now won three straight matches and will play host to Northwest University on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
