EUGENE, Ore. – After a few of his senior teammates had a chance to shine on Friday night, it was
Brandon Lotts turn on Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Walla Walla University.
Â
It was the second straight win for the Beacons (3-10-1, 2-7 CCC) and the second consecutive shutout for senior goalkeeper
John Castro. NCU outshot the Wolves 29-6 in the game and Castro made three second-half saves to preserve the victory.
Â
The goal came early, in the 16th minute, and the Beacons held on for the final 74 minutes to remain undefeated all-time against the Wolves. The play developed quickly as Lotts recovered a cross that had been punched out of the box by the WWU keeper. From 20-yards, Lotts lofted a chip shot back toward the goal, up and over the keeper for the only score of the night.
Â
Walla Walla (0-10, 0-10) allowed 11 shots in the game as Josh Fry made eight saves between the pipes.
Â
Northwest Christian will hit the road for the final two weeks of the regular season, beginning next Friday afternoon in Portland where they will face Warner Pacific at 3:00 pm.Â
