PORTLAND, Ore. – The Concordia University women's basketball team hit 14 three-pointers on Friday night, shooting 47% from long range to knock off Northwest Christian University, 83-72 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action at the Cavalier Gymnasium.

Heath Alexander said, "I'm proud of our team. We played well and competed. Concordia was hitting contested threes all night and when they got going it was tough to slow them down."

The Beacons got the first point of the game on a
Sami Pitts free-throw and led 19-15 after an
Andrea Gloss layup with 12:25 to play in the first half. A 10-0 run put the Cavaliers on top for good and Concordia would lead by as many as 13 before taking a 43-36 lead into the intermission.

Scoring the first five points of the second half, the Beacons climbed back to within a pair and trailed just 43-41 with 17:28 to play. Later, a three-point play by
Chandler Gabrio had NCU within four, 59-55. Over the final 12 minutes, however, Concordia had an answer for every Beacon score and pulled away for the 11-point win.

Concordia (8-6, 3-3 CCC) had six players in double figures including all five starters. Sierra Dean led the way with a team-leading 19 points, shooting 8-for-14. Janae Klarich added a double-double with 14 points and ten assists. Jordyn Peacock, Lexi Campbell, and Briannah Smith had 12 points each. Peacock added seven rebounds and six blocks. Concordia shot 44.7% in the game and out-rebounded the Beacons 44-37.

Northwest Christian (5-9, 1-5) was led off the bench by Gabrio, scoring 17 points.
Melyssa Weber (pictured) added 16, shooting 70% from the field. Pitts finished with 12 and Gloss added 11 in the loss.
Hannah Frederick filled the stat sheet on Friday, scoring eight points with seven rebounds, six assists and a steal.
