Agression Leads to Oregon Tech Win

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team committed 27 fouls and Oregon Tech went to the line 38 times as the No. 25 Owls cruised to a 78-55 win in the Morse Event Center on Saturday night.

NCU (5-8, 1-4 CCC) shot just 37.5% from the field and struggled all evening to avoid contact with the OIT lane-runners. Oregon Tech (14-4, 3-3) shot 76% from the free-throw line, going 29-for-38 which kept the Beacons away from any opportunity to try and close a 12-point half-time deficit.

The Beacons were led for the second night by Andrea Gloss, this time finishing with ten points as she shot 5-for-8 from the field. Chandler Gabrio (pictured) came off the bench to second eight points, all in the second half. Carly Bigby added seven points, shooting 2-for-2 from three-point range. Hannah Frederick claimed three of NCU's 11 steals and finished a solid night with five points, five rebounds, and four assists. NCU played 13 players and had 30 points scored off the bench.

Oregon Tech shot 43% from the field and was led by Karly LeVeque and Mary Drzayich with ten points apiece. The Owls also went deep into their bench, scoring 36 points from their reserves as 13 players saw court time. Tess Armstrong and Ashleigh Vandenbrink each scored nine points in the victory.

Northwest Christian will return to action next Friday, traveling to Portland to take on Concordia (7-6, 2-3) at 5:30 p.m.
