EUGENE, Ore. – After winning the first two sets the Evergreen State College volleyball team needed to fight off a spirited comeback attempt by Northwest Christian before winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference match, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23.

The Geoducks jump into a tie for sixth-place in the CCC with the victory, moving to 2-4 in conference play and 11-8 overall. The Beacons drop to 3-7 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

Evergreen was led by the strong attack of Brandee Victorino, collecting a match-best 14 kills. Nicole Pittelkau added 11 kills while Molly King was active on both sides of the ball with ten kills and seven blocks. Ivy Eakes led all players with 20 digs while Jaclyn Trinique notched a match-high 41 assists. Nicole Diehl nearly missed a double-double with 11 digs and nine kills, hitting .316 to lead all players.

NCU was led by
Chandler Gabrio who collected 12 kills.
Cassidy Winters added eight kills and five blocks and
Chelsea McGowan posted six kills and four blocks.
Kayla Ping ended her evening with six kills and 16 digs while leading all players with four service aces.
Sydney Rothenbush (pictured) added three aces as the Beacons posted nine as a team.

Northwest Christian will turn around quickly with a 2:00 pm start time scheduled against Northwest University on Saturday afternoon. Evergreen State heads to Portland to take on Corban University at 5:00 pm.Â
