Beacons Score But Fall to Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior Josh Bramlett (pictured) became a trivia answer on Monday night, scoring NCU's first ever goal against an NCAA Division I opponent in the Beacons 11-1 loss to Oregon State.

After a 5-0 shutout at the hands of the Beavers last season, NCU broke through with their first-and-only score in the 68th minute when Bramlett took a pass from Angel Sandoval and scored over the keeper from the right side of the box. The goal made it 8-1, but helped NCU to be able to leave the field with their heads held a little higher.

OSU (7-1) began their onslaught in the 15th minute and had built a 4-0 lead by halftime. Seven more goals came across after the intermission as the Beavers claimed a 35-6 advantage in shots, including 20 shots-on-goal.

For their part, Northwest Christian (1-3-2) managed three shots-on-goal with one apiece from Bramlett, Sandoval, and Colin McManamon.

Bren Bletcher was busy during 62 minutes of work between the pipes, making 8 saves as he singularly faced 15 shots-on-goal.

The Beacons turn right around on Tuesday and travel up to Kirkland, Washington to take on Northwest University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action at 4 p.m. The Eagles are 5-1 on the season.
