KIRKLAND, Wash. - The Northwest Christian University men's soccer team dropped their second game in as many nights on Tuesday, falling on the road to Northwest University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action, 5-0.
The loss drops NCU to 0-2-1 in conference play and 1-4-1 overall. Northwest improves to 6-1 overall, 2-1 in the CCC.
The Beacons were the victims of three first-half goals by NU, coming in the 16th, 24th, and 38th minutes. The second half was much better for NCU, save for a 45-second lapse in which they allowed two straight goals to the same player, Odason Pelogi.
Northwest finished the night out-shooting the Beacons 23-10 with a 15-7 edge in shots-on-goal.
Bren Bletscher was busy for the second straight night, on this occasion making eight saves.
After the game, head coach
Brett Bentley said, "This is the toughest stretch of our season at the end of playing four games in six days and especially with Oregon State last night and the big trip today, we knew coming in it was going to be a tough task. Northwest is always a tough place to play and we made things harder on ourselves today by making too many mistakes and giving them some goals."
The Beacons will return to action on Saturday, hitting the road for Salem to take on Corban University at 1 p.m. The Beacons played the Warriors to a 1-1 draw at home this past Saturday.
