OAKLAND, Calif. – Goals came early and often once again for the Northwest Christian University women's soccer team as they knocked off Mills College on Thursday for the second time in three days, 7-0. Junior
Janelle Richards (pictured) led the way as she became the second Beacon this season to score three goals in a game.
Â
As they had on Tuesday, the Beacons scored four goals in the first half, with all four coming in the first 13 minutes of the game.
Stevie Harrison wasted no time getting the game-winner, scoring off a pass from Richards just one minute and 48 seconds into the game.
Â
Less than a minute later the roles were reversed as Harrison found Richards for her first goal of the afternoon.
Â
NCU expanded the lead to 3-0 in the 10th minute when a
Raechel Warren pass found
Maddi Bartholomew who punched in the score. Then, in the 12th minute, Richards was at it again, getting her second goal of the afternoon as she took the pass from
Mishayla Bertelsen.
Â
Bartholomew snagged her second goal in the 69th minute, receiving a pass from
Karlie Mast to give the Beacons a 5-0 advantage.
Â
The sixth goal followed in the 75th minute as freshman
Mackenzie Galick contributed her first career goal. Then, Richards ended the scoring three minutes later, completing the hat-trick as she scored off a Cyclone defender.
Â
When the dust settled, NCU had finished with a 36-3 advantage in shots, including 19 shots-on-goal. Junior Kristen Fulbright collected her third shutout of the season and didn't need to make a single save in doing so as the Beacon defense held Mills without a shot-on-goal. Fulbright now has ten shutouts in her career.
Â
Northwest Christian (3-4) will return home this Friday to take on Warner Pacific College at 5:00 pm. in their final prep game before the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule opens next week.Â
