ATHERTON, Calif. – Menlo College improved to 5-2 on the season, shutting out Northwest Christian University on Tuesday afternoon, 4-0. The frontrunners in the California Pacific Conference scored two early goals in each half to cruise to the victory.

Head Coach
Brett Bentley said, "I give a lot of credit to Menlo. They are a very well organized team on both sides of the ball and they made the afternoon very difficult for us. They are a good team and it was another opportunity for us to humble ourselves and get back to work in practice."
Â
Menlo out-shot the Beacons 14-5 in the game, making 11 shots-on-goal while holding the Beacons to just two attempts on-frame.
Â
The Oaks scored their first goal, and eventual game winner, in the eighth minute when Danielle McCarthy scored off a dish from Brittany Squarcia. A second goal was added just six minute later and the 2-0 score remained until halftime.
Â
Menlo again scored early in the second, putting in an insurance netter less than five minutes into the period. The Oaks then went ahead 4-0 in the 56th minute for the final goal of the game.
Â
Kristin Fulbright went the distance between the pipes for the Beacons, collecting seven saves.
Â
NCU (2-4) will be back in action on Wednesday, traveling back to Oakland for another meeting with Mills College, whom the Beacons defeated 7-0 on Monday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.Â
