EVERETT, Wash. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team found their way into the win column for the first time this season, knocking off Trinity Lutheran College on Tuesday night, 3-0. Junior
Janelle Richards (pictured) scored twice as the Beacons out-shot the Eagles, 24-7.
Â
Playing against a team with just nine field players, NCU faced a clogged defensive backfield and wasn't able to break through with their first score until the 30th minute.
Mishayla Bertelsen found Richards with a break away pass and Richards fired home the game-winner.
Â
Richards added another score in the 81st minute, receiving the ball from
Maddi Bartholomew. Then, in the 86th minute,
Michelle Giron found the back of the net for the first time in her career, off an assist by
Linsey Johnson.
Â
Junior
Kristin Fulbright registered her 8th career shutout, making four saves.
Â
The Beacons (1-2) will have a quick turnaround after the long mid-week trek, heading to face Willamette University on Friday night at 5:00 pm. The Bearcats are currently 0-3 on the season and have been outscored 8-1.Â
