EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian shot over 50% and hit 11 three-pointers as they opened up Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday night with a 79-56 victory over Corban University. NCU held the Warriors 32 points under their CCC-leading scoring average.

A three-pointer from Cody Crowe gave the Warriors an early 3-2 lead but it would be the final advantage Corban would have in the contest. NCU responded with ten straight points with
Devyn Iglehart (pictured) hitting back-to-back three pointers to give the Beacons a 12-3 lead with 15 minutes to play. The home team would lead by as many as 17 points before taking a 39-29 lead into the intermission.

Corban crawled back in the second stanza and cut the lead to five points on a Jeremiah Harris layup with 16:40 remaining. The Warrior deficit never got closer than that however and was only within single-digits for a five-minute span. With 11:29 to play, NCU held a 52-43 lead when
Travis Pacos hit a layup that sparked a 13-0 run, putting the game out of reach.
Javonte Byrd scored eight points during the streak, including a pair of three-pointers.

NCU finished the game hitting on 50.9% of their buckets after shooting 16-for-26 in the first half alone. The team was 11-for-25 from three-point range with four different players hitting multiple treys in the game. The Beacons also out-rebounded the Warriors 35-21 and forced 16 Corban turnovers.

The Beacons (6-2, 1-0 CCC), who remain undefeated at home this season, were led by Iglehart, finishing the night with 18 points and four assists. Byrd scored 13 points off the bench as the NCU reserves outscored their Corban counterparts, 28-15. Also in double-figures for the Beacons were Pacos with 11 points and
Michael Loomis with ten.
Austin Kuemper scored eight points in limited action and led all players with seven rebounds.

Corban (5-3, 0-1) was led by AJ Monterossi with 13 points, six assists, and three steals. Jordan Carter added 12 points while Cyrus Ward came off the bench to score seven points with a team-leading six rebounds. Corban shot 42% from the field and were 12-for-13 at the free-throw line.

Northwest Christian will take a week off before returning to do battle on the road next Saturday against Linfield College at 8:00 p.m.
