ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season, defeated Pacific Union College on Friday afternoon, 62-50. Four players were in double-figures for NCU.

The defense was on display once again as the Beacons held their second straight opponent to 50 points or less. PUC shot just 31.5% from the floor and were victimized by 21 turnovers, which NCU turned into 23 points.

Northwest Christian also benefitted from 14 second-chance points, collecting 16 offensive boards as they out-rebounded Pacific Union, 44-34. The Beacons shot 37.5% in the game.

Pacific Union (0-2) was led by Rachel Hahn who went 4-for-6 from three-point range to top all scorers with 12 points. Kaelea Alonzo and Amber Washington posted eight points apiece while Monique Davis scored seven points and seven assists.

The Beacons (2-0) were led by
MeShel Rad, scoring 11 points and ten rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
Sami Pitts stayed hot, hitting another pair of treys as she also scored 11 points.
Andrea Gloss (pictured) and
Demarea Caples added ten points apiece in the post with Caples added ten rebounds and three blocks.

Heath Alexander said, "We kept battling tonight. It wasn't our best performance by any means, but I give credit to Pacific Union. They took us out of some things and did a good job preparing for us. We were able to keep at it and make some plays to pull away at the end."

NCU will turn around quickly for their first home game of the season on Monday, playing host to Westmont College from Santa Barbara, Calif. The Warriors are currently ranked no. 13 in the NAIA Division I coaches poll. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
