ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Beacons are undefeated no more after dropping their first game in the Bill Holtz Warrior Classic on Thursday night, losing to host William Jessup, 81-69.

In a highly efficient shooting night for both teams, it was 13 Beacon turnovers that made the difference. NCU shot 49% in the game including 9-for-19 shooting from three-point range while the Warriors hit on 49% of their attempts. WJU also out-rebounded the Beacons 31-24, including 12 offensive boards.

The Beacons were led once again by junior
Austin Kuemper who scored 25 points. He becomes the first NCU player on record to score at least 25 points in two straight games to open a season. Sophomore
Jack Hackman (pictured) shot 4-for-6 from three-point range and finished with 16 points.
Devyn Iglehart added six points and a game-high seven assists before fouling out.

William Jessup had four players in double-figures, led by a 19 point, seven rebound, six assist performance by Chris Murry. Elijah Lewis and Djuan Smith posted 13 points apiece and Rob Frank finished with 11 points and three steals.

NCU (1-1) will close out the tournament on Friday afternoon, facing No. 22 California Maritime Academy at 3 p.m.
