Beacons Wipe Out Walla Walla, 95-57

EUGENE, Ore.  – Senior Allie Kelsey (pictured) scored 14 points and four others hit double-digits as the Beacons shut down Walla Walla on Saturday night, taking a 95-57 victory. It was the most points scored by an NCU team in five years.
 
The Beacons (4-2) shot 42% in the game but held the Wolves to just 27.4%, including a 4-for-15 night from three-point range. NCU won the rebounding battle 60-46 and collected nine steals as they forced 14 Walla Walla turnovers.
 
Kelsey scored her 14 points behind a trio of three-pointers, adding five rebounds, and team highs with four assists and three steals. Demarea Caples also scored 14, shooting 6-for-7 from the field. Melyssa Weber added 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench while Alaina Thompson scored a season-high 11 points as the NCU reserves out-scored the Walla Walla bench, 45-11. Sami Pitts was also in double figures for the home team, scoring ten points.
 
Walla Walla (0-11) was led by Michaela Garcia who posted a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds, both game highs, before fouling out in the final minute. Lauren Pernu added 12 points and two steals and Emily Fields came off the bench to score 11.
 
Northwest Christian returns to action on Tuesday night, traveling to Newberg to take on George Fox University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
