Warriors Knock Off Beacons in Four

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University volleyball team accomplished something they hadn't been able to do since 2011 on Friday night, defeating the Beacons in four sets 25-21, 25-12, 14-25, 25-15. The win broke a five-match losing streak in the series.

Corban came out swinging, making just two attack errors in the first set as they hit .421. The Warriors rolled in the second set as well as the Beacons hit a -.207 with just two kills.

NCU responded well after the intermission, roaring back with an 11-point win in the third set. The Beacons collected a match-high 14 kills while holding Corban to their worst hitting of the evening with seven kills and seven errors on 50 swings.

Unfortunately for the road team, the Warriors sealed the deal in set four, committing just two errors to claim their first win over the Beacons since October 28, 2011.

The Beacons (4-8, 2-7 CCC) were led by Cassidy Winters (pictured), a bright spot on a dark evening with 13 kills, hitting .393 with a team-high four blocks. Chandler Gabrio added 11 kills and a pair of service aces. Alyssa Dorr punched in another double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs, also adding four blocks.

Corban (5-11, 2-7) was led off the bench by Claire Bailey with a match-high 14 kills. Haley Meili led all players with 36 assists and 17 digs while Miah Smith added seven kills and a team-best three blocks.
