EUGENE, Ore. –The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team held Corban to just three shots-on-goal on Saturday, but it was enough for the Warriors who walked away with a 2-0 victory in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
Â
NCU took four shots and had just a pair of shots-on-goal, both from
Mishayla Bertelsen (pictured), as the Corban defense did enough to hold on for the win.
Â
The Warriors took an early lead with what became the game-winning-goal, scoring in the 7th minute. Randi Donahue hit a strike from ten-yards out that bounced off a Beacon defender and came right back to Donahue. Her second attempt was good, hitting it into the left side of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Â
Corban's only shot-on-goal in the second half came on a penalty kick, just over four minutes into the period. A four in the box gave Sadee Kallis the opportunity and she completed the job to the left side of the net.
Â
With the loss, NCU moves to 6-10 on the season including a 1-6 mark in the CCC. Corban improves to 8-6-2 and 3-3-1 in conference.
Â
The Beacons return to action on Thursday, playing host to Eastern Oregon in the penultimate game of the regular season. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.Â
