EUGENE, Ore.  – Oregon Tech moved into sole possession of second place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Friday night, knocking off Northwest Christian University on the road, 74-64. After trailing by as many as 18 points in the final eight minutes, NCU made a late charge to bring the game to within eight, but OIT held on for the victory in the Morse Event Center.

Oregon Tech (20-4, 8-4) shot 41.5% in the game and out-rebounded NCU 43-41. NCU (6-15, 2-10) shot 38% and was just 2-for-14 from three-point range in the game. After trailing by 15 points at the half, the Beacons outscored OIT 35-30 after the intermission, out-rebounding the Owls 29-21 including 16 offensive boards. Unfortunately for the home team, it was too late to overcome a difficult first 20 minutes.

Head Coach Liz Turner-Bolton said, "Our first half effort needed to be more like the second tonight. We reduced the rebound deficit, equaled their points in the paint and got to the offensive glass better. We need to establish a sense of urgency straight out of the gate and not dig a hole for ourselves with poor decisions on offense.

NCU was led in the loss by Hannah Frederick (pictured), tying the game-high with 22 points, shooting 9-for-14 from the field. The junior guard also led the Beacons with five steals and two assists. Chandler Gabrio added nine points and a game-high nine rebounds while Tami Brown scored eight points. Returning to action after missing the last five games, sophomore Andrea Gloss came off the bench to score seven points and account for four blocked shots.

OIT was led by an all-around dominant performance from Kassi Conditt, leading all players with 22 points (7-for-12), nine rebounds, and six blocked shots. Maria Ramirez added 17 points and a team-high five steals and Ashleigh Vandenbrink came off the bench to score 16.

Northwest Christian University will return to action on Saturday night, welcoming NCU alumnus Lynn Kennedy into the Morse Event Center with his Southern Oregon University Raiders. SOU defeated Corban in Salem on Friday night and is currently tied for fourth place in the CCC. Oregon Tech will be in Salem to take on the Warriors on Saturday with both games scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 pm.
