CALDWELL, Idaho - The Northwest Christian University softball team suffered a no-hitter in game one on Friday and went on to be swept in a double-header by The College of Idaho, 5-0 and 11-4.

Nickayla Skinner (15-7) picked up her second career no-hitter in the opener, allowing just one base runner on a hit-by-pitch for Kaeli Massetto. She struck out ten Beacon hitters over seven innings of work.

Jordan Bennett (0-11) took the loss for NCU, allowing five earned runs while walking seven batters in five innings of work. Sarah Lawhorn went the final two innings, allowing just two hits.

The Beacons were able to get their offense going in the second game, taking a 3-0 lead after their at-bats in the top of the third inning. Randi Kostner scored on a Parker Bonife single in the first inning and NCU plated two more in the third on back-to-back RBI singles by Gabby Stover and Dani Gehrke.

The Yotes tied things up with a three-run home run by Ashley Van Horne in the bottom of the third, but the Beacons quickly stole back a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning when Laynee Bevans came home on a single by Kostner.

The C of I tied the game again in the bottom of the fourth and in the bottom of the sixth put up seven runs in a nine-hit inning to pull away.

Bonife finished the game with two hits for the Beacons while Kostner (pictured) scored half of the teams runs. Kostner and Bevans each posted a stolen base in the game. Lawhorn (5-8) took the loss for NCU, allowing ten runs, all earned, on 16 hits in 5.1 innings of work.
