Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team closed out the first half of the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday night with a loss, falling to Warner Pacific College, 77-48. The Beacons trailed by just four points at half-time but went cold in the second half as the Knights pulled away.
NCU shot just 21% from the field in the second half including an 0-for-9 clip from three-point range. Warner Pacific ended the night with a 48-32 advantage on the glass including 16 offensive rebounds, which amounted to a 23-8 lead in second-chance scoring.
Head Coach Liz Turner-Bolton said, “With played well in the first half, but forgot to show up in the second. We just need to regroup for the home stretch.”
The Beacons (11-9, 4-5) were led by
Tami Brown (pictured) and
Lindsey Shearer, scoring 12 points apiece. Shearer added six assists.
Kelsey Atkins scored four points and led NCU with seven rebounds.
Warner Pacific (10-8, 6-3) was led by Chelsey Christensen with 23 points and KayLee Engen with 22. The two guards combined to shoot 7-for-14 from three-point range. Tori Carroll added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Nichole Jackson collected ten assists and nine boards.
NCU rounds out the first-half of the CCC schedule alone in sixth place, just two games behind fourth-place Warner Pacific. The Beacons will begin the second half of the conference slate on Friday night when they play host to The Evergreen State College (4-9, 3-6) at 5:30 pm.
