Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team shot 29% and never led as the fell to Northwest University on Monday afternoon, 81-57.
The Eagles took an early ten-point lead, going ahead 16-6 within the first five minutes of the game. The Beacons rallied back to within two points, 19-17, but an 11-2 run allowed the home team to run ahead by as many as eleven points, taking a 36-30 lead into the intermission.
Northwest Christian snagged the first bucket of the second half, a three-pointer by
Aly Bruns (pictured) to pull to visitors to within three points. The Eagles soon pulled away, using a 21-4 run to lead by 20 points with nine minutes to play.
The Eagles (9-10, 5-6 CCC) had four players in double-figures, led by Emily Drivstuen with 19. The junior guard was 5-for-9 from three-point range. Domi Mendezona added 15 points and led the team with five assists and two steals. Center post Jessalyn Jackson was in early foul trouble and kept off the books in the first half, but responded strong in the second half to end the night with 14 poitns and 13 rebounds. Ebany Herd added twelve points and a pair of blocks.
NCU (9-14, 1-10 CCC) was led by Bruns, scoring 14 points. The junior was 4-for-8 from three-point range.
Shannon Harte came off the bench to score eleven points and seven rebounds and
Lindsey Shearer finished with 9 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
NCU will be back in action on Friday when they return home to face rival Corban University at 5:30 pm. The Warriors (15-5, 9-2) are currently ranked No. 14 in the NAIA national coach's poll.
